Outline of the event:
A Hearing health and science fair for World Hearing Day 3rd March 2023 in Blantyre, Malawi.
Chichiri primary school will host audiologists doing talks and hearing tests and ENT clinical officers explaining ear symptoms and performing examinations. Pupils and teachers from Meadowview School for the Deaf will attend and share their experiences with local primary and secondary school children.
We will also provide music and a science fair focused on learning about hearing and reminding everyone that ear and hearing health can be important AND fun. (this will include basic physics delivered through games and inclusive malawi-sign dancing). The event is endorsed by Malawi National Association of the Deaf (MANAD) and we also hope to spark interest in Listen Hear! a Study using bone conduction devices to help school age children with hearing loss.
This work is in collaboration with the science4all team at the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Research Trust.
