Title: aking the negative attitudes influence attitudes towards the care of persons with Hearing Impairment
Description: APHEL-UG LTD (Association of people with hearing loss-Uganda) celebrated world hearing day on march 2023.We carried out activities aimed at creating awareness and sensitizing the communities about the hearing impairment disability.
Activities through a series of television shows were carried out.we had a live Television show on URBAN TV Uganda and the information shared was also printed in New vision newspapers of 4th march 2023 reminding the public about hearing loss and proper ear care. We shared about causes , types of hearing loss,our experiences as individuals with hearing loss the challenges we encounter, and how we have tried to address these barriers.We reminded the government to integrate person-centered ear and hearing care within the national health plans to ease the cost of accessing the hearing care services as well as reviewing the existing policies and programs intending to address the needs of persons with hearing loss and other PWDs.
