Title: Hearing loss prevention through listening habits.

Description:

To make ear and hearing care a reality for all, we launched an ear and hearing care program for grades 6 to 12 learners. Focus of the program is to raise awareness about: The dangers of listening to music at loud levels, Profession of Audiology & Hearing ability self-evaluation and screening via hearWHO app

Format: Talk a local radio station which and streamed live on Facebook; Online presentation to learners and a face-to-face presentation to 167 learners at local high school. Learners were given an opportunity to evaluate their hearing via a hearing ability questionnaire. 77 were completed, 41 indicated hearing challenges, 16 were incomplete with signs of potential reading and writing and/or comprehension problems, some learners struggled writing their own personal particulars, and some were above age for the grade i.e., 18 in grade 8.

All learners showing signs of hearing loss will be followed up appropriately.
