Title: 2023 Community World Hearing Day @LANL

Description:

The Los Alamos National Laboratory Hearing Conservation Program hosted a month-long series of events culminating with a World Hearing Day keynote presentation. Dr. Carol Clifford educated attendees on the connections between hearing loss, dementia, and diabetes. The presentation elucidated the variety of noise exposure in daily life coupling with #safelistening for minors and the benefits of using hearing aids on long term brain health. This Total Worker Health approach, simultaneously presented virtually and in person, applied to all occupations from fire fighters to machinists to musicians. The planning team invited the entire community. An engaging panel discussion followed the keynote ear health and hearing conservation experts answered participants’ questions. A recording of the event is available to continue to provide educational content beyond #WHD. Lastly, attendees had a chance to win hearing protection related items to encourage hearing protection usage beyond the work environment.
