Project title: HEARING OUTREACH PROGRAM FOR EMPOWERMENT (HOPE)

Regions: [86] [10] [14] [17] [20] [23] [102]

Outline of the event:

The HOPE project is a pilot program that aims to make hearing screening and diagnostic services accessible to everyone in the community, especially in Kota Kinabalu. The city is facing challenges like a backlog of patients and long waiting lists due to a shortage of audiologists worsened by the post-COVID situation with wait times extending to February 2025. Thus, the HOPE project will collaborate with local hearing aid centres to organize a mass diagnostic hearing service. Data from the HOPE project will be presented to the public during a dedicated World Hearing Day seminar officiated by the Ministry of Health which will be held on the 6th of March 2024. This event emphasizes the importance of addressing hearing health issues and showcases the positive impact of the project. The success of the pilot project will enable its expansion to other hospitals facing similar challenges in different regions.
