Project title: Bringing World Hearing Day to the community

Regions: [86] [10] [14] [17] [20] [23] [102]

Outline of the event:

The Telethon Kids Institute have several teams working together to provide an interactive, educational display at the Perth Children’s Hospital. We will be giving away free show bags filled with ear health information flyers and merchandise and we will provide information and demonstrations of the HearWHO app and Otitis Media Guidelines (Australian). There will be audiologists and research staff available to chat with families. In addition, we will have two ear related educational activities – one designed for young children (approx. 4-8 years) and another for children aged over 8 years. Older children will be able to observe how a glittery slime (representing the glue that can trap bacteria in the inner ear) impairs the transfer of sound within a homemade ear model. Younger children can watch 100s and 1000s dance on a homemade ear drum model as they use instruments or their voices to create sound.
