Project title: Living and Ageing Well with Diabetes: Uncovering the Links with Hearing Loss

Regions: [86] [10] [14] [17] [20] [23] [102]

Outline of the event:

Diabetes and hearing loss are big health challenges. They affect the lives of millions of people in England and many millions around the world. The evidence is that older people with diabetes are twice as likely to experience hearing loss. We will delve into the latest research findings and discuss the implications for living and ageing well.

The event will have inspiring talks from cutting-edge researchers and the Royal National Institute for Deaf People. It will also include an interactive session where attendees can share their insights on why understanding the connection between diabetes and hearing loss is crucial for individuals and their families.

This event is co-organised by the Centre for Research on Ageing and the All EARS PPIE group at the University of Southampton and is registered with the World Health Organization as part of the international series of activities for World Hearing Day 2024, themed ‘Changing Mindsets.’
