Project title: Breaking Barriers: Promoting Deaf Awareness and Inclusion in Luuka District, Uganda

Regions: [86] [10] [14] [17] [20] [23] [102]

Outline of the event:

In Uganda, pervasive misperceptions perpetuate the harmful stereotype that individuals with hearing loss are unintelligent. The National Association of Parents of Deaf Children of Uganda (NAPADEC) proposes an awareness campaign in the Luuka district to challenge these misconceptions and promote inclusive practices. Our initiative aims to educate communities, healthcare providers, educators, and policymakers (target 150) about the realities of hearing loss, the importance of early identification and intervention, and the significance of sign language as a communication tool for deaf individuals.
