Outline of the event:
Celebration of World Hearing Day by holding a stand at a large shopping centre in Manchester, UK with a range of hearing and audiology activities. Activities include:
1. Video otoscopy: People are invited to:
a. Look into their own ears through a video-otoscope
b. Look into a fake head’s ear through an otoscope
2. Hold a demo cochlear implant
3. How loud are you listening to your music? Place your earphones on the Kemar head and it will give you a reading about how loud the sound is
4. Tablet-based myth-buster quizzes – Which of these hearing factoids are myths?
5. Information sharing
a. Research volunteering opportunity information
b. Hearing and hearing protection information
6. Free ear plugs (until supply runs out)
7. Non-Newtonian fluid demo
8. Sound wave demos

9. Hearing loss simulator on iPads
