Outline of the event:
We plan to have a special drive for screening for hearing loss in all new born babies born before 4th March 2024, in JJ Hospital, Mumbai. This is the largest public hospital in Mumbai, catering to all sections of society. This special screening is being attended by a celebrity supporting our cause and is promoted by the INDIAN ACADEMY OF PEDIATRICS in India. We are equally aware of the deeply ingrained societal misperceptions and stigmatizing mindsets in our society at large. Thus changing these mindsets is a crucial step towards ensuring equitable access to ear and hearing care. Our earlier actions at JJ hospital have already led to a greater awareness on the importance of screening babies by the health care providers in the community, as well as the mothers whose babies have been tested. We support the call — LET’S MAKE EAR AND HEARING CARE A REALITY FOR ALL!!
