Having Troubles?

First, to be absolutely clear, no one has missed a deadline. Activity submissions Will be accepted until at least April 15, 2026. Most folks are having success, and we want you to as well.

Below are outlined common concerns, with solutions offered.

We did implement checking for false identities this year (spam) and despite implementing 3 of the most common CAPTCHA tools, and some broader security we have found it difficult to find tools that work throughout the world, and without asking you for any independent confirmation like credit card. We are turning that off most of that for the next month (unless the bots attack again), and hope that should eliminate some concerns.

How things routinely work:

  • Establish a user ID
    • You only need one of these, and we anticipate it working over the years
    • We did ask you to create a new one this year, so previous IDs are not currently functional
    • During the creation process you will be asked to respond to and email to confirm your identity
  • Submit a new activity
    • The activity is the project you want to share with the WHD community, and include in the yearly report on activities
    • This can be submitted before or after your actual event
    • Be prepared to describe the event and answer some simple categorical questions
    • There is the opportunity to highlight how the activity influenced one specific individual
    • You can upload photos
  • Edit an existing activity
    • You may want to change some of your answers / descriptions
    • You may want to modify your choice of pictures – particularly after your event
  • Expectations
    • After new user id request you will receive a simple email to confirm your identity. Please respond.
    • On submission of your activity, you will receive a copy of your answers, and a note from our program chairs thanking you for your efforts
    • In the weeks following WHD you will receive a certificate of participation
    • Your work will be included in the Annual report of World Hearing Day Activities
    • Your details, including photos, will be linked from the Annual report for years

Problems with email:

  • We use your email when creating your user id, and when reporting creation or editing of activity reports
  • We promise we are doing our best. 98% of emails are sent, with only malformed addresses failing
  • Most lost emails are filtered out by your email service (thinking we are sending SPAM)
  • You can decrease this possibility by adding admin@worldhearingday.org to your contact list

Problems with user id:

  • Most common is not creating a new id
    • We are asking all previous users to create a new id this year.
      • This is because in the past we had bots creating false ids, placing the site at risk. Of note, we have never had a breach of security and none of your past information has been compromised or altered.
    • This id is not the same user id as was used for small grant submission on our sister site CoalitionForGlobalHearingHealth.org

  • User ID created, but confirmation email not responded to.
    • You should get the email within minutes, you may need to refresh your email client. If confirmation doesn’t come it was likely filtered out by your email service. We are trying to look at those id creations without confirmation manually, and fixing it on our side. You can help us by reaching out through contact link to confirm you “are a human”
  • If you have made a user id this year, but forgot the password follow this link:

  • Identified as SPAM during the creation process.
    • We have recently decreased the potency of our spam filters. Please try again. If that does not work reach out through the contact link.

Problems with initial activity submission:

  • You need to be logged in prior to submission.

  • There are some required responses, but only on the first page.

If things are still not working

  • Reach out to us through the contact page. You could also send to admin@worldhearingday.org but as that is email, it is not 100% to get through.
  • Try to be as specific as possible as to what was already working, and then what failed
  • We will absolutely make things work, even if we need to do it manually. But would certainly prefer if we can empower you (and make things better for future participants)
