Organization: Ear Peace Save Your Hearing Foundation

Project title: Educating Our Youth about Noise-induced hearing Loss (NIHL) and Its Prevention

Regions: United States of America

Outline of the event:

Ear Peace Save Your Hearing Foundation, an educational nonprofit organization, is partnering with Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) to raise awareness of Noise-induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) and its prevention among young people. On World Hearing Day 2022, we will launch an ongoing Hearing Safety campaign for students, educators, parents, and others in the community. Plans include: the formal recognition of World Hearing Day by M-DCPS, the conducting of a pilot program for the expansion of student hearing screenings to include high-frequency sound, the development and provision of educational materials and resources, and the encouragement of K-12 student participation in Ear Peace Foundation’s poster contest. Our Hearing Safety campaign will provide ongoing educational programming (in-class, virtual, and online) and engaging activities to raise awareness about NIHL and the importance of hearing safety.
