Title: Stong Ears = Strong Life
Alternate tite:

Strong ears = strong life

Description:

Our planned activity involved filming two social stories. The social stories serve as educational tools for expectant parents and health care workers. The videos have a focus on early identification and intervention of hearing loss in newborns.

Video 1 – What to expect during the Newborn Hearing Screening:
This video will explain the newborn hearing screening process in simple, clear terms. It will provide visual demonstrations of the screening procedure, ensuring that caregivers will understand what will happen during the test. The video will be tailored to address the needs of Aboriginal families, using culturally relevant visuals and language to ensure accessibility, particularly those with low literacy.

Video 2 – What happens if hearing loss is identified:
This video will outline the next steps if a baby is diagnosed with a hearing loss, focusing on the importance of early intervention. It will provide reassuring information to parents explaining diagnostic tests.

Primary site: WPR – Australia

Impactful Story:

NT Hearing services wanted to highlight early intervention and the newborn hearing screening program this World Hearing Day. We have filmed two social stories and had the front page of our local newspaper for a story on a local child who was had their hearing loss detected through the newborn hearing screening program.
