Title: Sound Beginnings: Empowering Communities and Safeguarding Children’s Hearing Health
Alternate tite:

Sound beginnings: Empowering communities and safeguarding children’s hearing health

Description:

We undertook a comprehensive community outreach program. We began with orientation sessions on ear health for students in grade 5 to 8 in two schools, educating young students with the information they need about hearing health and prevention. This was followed by a two-day ear screening initiative at I.J. Pioneer School and Adarsha School, where we conducted screenings to identify potential hearing issues among school children and counseled them on follow-ups required.
Valuing the invaluable role of community-based health workers, we also organized an orientation programme on ear and hearing care for Female Community Health Volunteers (FCHVs). These dedicated volunteers in turn took their learning forward by conducting awareness programmes with mothers’ groups in their respective areas. By this cascading education and intervention strategy, not only did we directly impact students, but we also empowered local health leaders to sustain ear health awareness at the grassroots level.
