On March 3, APNAG observed the 2025 World Hearing Day with a series of activities aimed at promoting Ear and Hearing Care and awareness. The Event brought together 10 team members who worked tirelessly to reach about 120 individuals, lasted for five hours (10:00 am – 3:00 pm).
The team conducted advocacy visits to policymakers and stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of accessible ear and hearing care services.
Free hearing screenings were offered to attendees, providing an opportunity for individuals to assess their hearing health. Otoscope equipment was used to conduct an in-depth examination and 84 persons subjected themselves to the screening, forty 40 persons were discovered to have to Cerumen auris (Wax Impaction): 15 persons had Otomycosis; 15 persons had Ear Discharge; 14 persons had their Ears in a clean and healthy state.
Branded exercise books and biro pens were distributed to attendees, serving as educational materials and awareness tools.

Impactful Story:
The Executive Director, APNAG shared a personal story, that her mother born on 28/9/1918, but died on 14/9/ 2020 at the age of 102 years, experienced hearing loss at the age of three and half years due to Influenza infection resulting to deafness. However, despite this physical disability she lived a fulfilled life, a successful Seamstress and accomplished farmer. Though without any formal education.
With these skills she funded her children’s education; her determination and resilience in the face of adversity confirms that there is ability in disability and called on the audience to discard any myths/misconceptions concerning hearing loss.
