Title: Empowering yourself to make Ear and Hearing Care a reality for all in Nepal
Alternate tite:

Empowering yourself to make ear and hearing care a reality for all in Nepal

Description:

In celebration of World Hearing Day, Health Care Association of Nepal hosted “Changing Mindsets: Empowering Yourself to Make Ear and Hearing Care a Reality for all in Nepal” in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur. This multifaceted event empowered 30 youth leaders through hands-on training by ENT specialist, equipping them to serve as community advocates for ear health. Simultaneously, Hearing Health awareness program in 15 schools educated 1,000+ children, indirectly reaching over thousands family members including school staff through interactive workshops and engaging activities. In addition, four ear screening camps provided essential hearing assessments for 1000+ community members. This integrated approach debunks myths, promotes early detection, and fosters community-driven advocacy, ultimately transforming perceptions and access to ear care across Nepal.

Primary site: SEAR- Nepal

Impactful Story:

During our screening program, we met Ashik Alam, 16-year-old boy, from a low-income family. He had been struggling with hearing difficulties for years. His teachers noticed that he often missed instructions.

We diagnosed him with left Otitis Media with Effusion and tympanic membrane perforation—a treatable condition that had gone unnoticed due to lack of awareness and financial constraints. Our team immediately reached out to his parents, providing counseling on the condition.

We provide financial support to cover his medical expenses. Today, he is recovering from it and says,” I feel I am free now—I can hear the world better”.
