Changing mindsets: Making ear and hearing care accessible to all
Description:
Event Description:
The World Hearing Day event was held at St. Peter’s Primary School, Otukpo, Nigeria, where students were educated on the importance of ear and hearing care. The session focused on safe listening habits, common causes of hearing loss, and preventive measures using interactive discussions and WHO-approved materials.
A healthcare professional conducted a live demonstration on proper ear care, emphasizing the dangers of excessive noise exposure and untreated ear infections. Students actively participated by asking questions and sharing their experiences.
Additionally, the event created awareness about early detection and the need for regular hearing check-ups. Teachers were also engaged to help reinforce key messages beyond the event.
This initiative was part of a broader campaign to promote hearing health in under-served communities, ensuring children develop lifelong habits to protect their hearing. The event was impactful, fostering knowledge, engagement, and commitment to better hearing care.
