Alternate tite:
Ust hear and now: Tune in to better hearing!
Description:
The World Hearing Day 2025 activities, organized by the University of Santo Tomas in coordination with various partners such as local government units, Starkey Hearing Foundation, and Better Hearing Philippines, were a resounding success in raising awareness about ear and hearing health. Key events included discussions on hearing disability updates, advocacy meetings on school hearing screenings, and major grant applications, including a ₱10M proposal for school children screening and a ₱3M grant for seafarers. Workshops and symposiums empowered various sectors, from local governments to parents of hearing-impaired children. Practical interventions, such as hearing screenings at UST, teleconsultations, and otoscopy training, benefited many individuals. The Starkey Hearing Aid Mission provided essential support to 1,100 patients in Marinduque. Additionally, an American Sign Language workshop and a public health planning session for the education sector further strengthened awareness efforts. Each event successfully contributed to improving hearing health and accessibility for those in need.

Impactful Story:
The World Hearing Day 2025 activities brought together people from all sectors for free hearing screenings. Specialists identified those in need, and for some, the moment was life-changing. With free hearing aids, a child heard their parent’s voice clearly for the first time, and an elderly man rediscovered everyday sounds. Tears of joy and gratitude filled the air as lives were instantly transformed. Thanks to UST, local government units, the Starkey Hearing Foundation, and Better Hearing Philippines, many regained their connection to the world. Each screening and fitting proved the power of compassion, advocacy, and the gift of hearing.
