As part of World Hearing Day (WHD), three high-impact strategic activities were carried out in Nhamatanda, promoting awareness, access to information and strengthening hearing inclusion.
Firstly, radio programs which played a crucial role in disseminating information about hearing care, demystifying prejudices and encouraging the community to support hearing-impaired individuals, especially girls from all backgrounds.
Secondly, we carried out a visit to Nhamatanda Rural Hospital, which allowed for direct engagement in conversation with a health professional, who promoted an in-depth dialog about best practices in the care of people with hearing difficulties and reinforcing the need for inclusive policies in the sector.
Finally, we held the interactive session with young people, part of the Community Outreach Awareness Campaign, which provided a safe space for debate and sharing of experiences centered on WHD, strengthening participants’ understanding and commitment to a more accessible society.
We believe that these actions have generated lasting impact, promoting changes in mentality and encouraging practices that guarantee equity in access to hearing care.
