Title: World Hearing Day 2025 in Germany
Alternate tite:

Head of communication & events

Description:

The campaign in Germany around World Hearing Day was organised by the German Association of the Hearing Instruments Industry (BVHI). The campaign consisted of specific PR activities, offers for hearing aid acousticians and ENT specialists as well as social media activities. Federal Minister of Health Prof Dr Karl Lauterbach once again took on the patronage of World Hearing Day and warned of the consequences of untreated hearing loss. The hearing aid associations in Austria and Switzerland (Hörsystemakustik Schweiz (HS) and Verband der Hörakustiker Österreichs (VHÖ)) joined the BVHI’s campaign. Under the motto ‘Understand more, experience more’, hearing aid acousticians, ENT doctors and clinics in Germany were sent free materials (such as posters and brochures). Around 750 parcels were sent out. Social media templates were also offered on www.welttag-des-hoerens.de. A particular highlight were the two PR campaigns with the Mainz Philharmonic State Orchestra and Peter Wirth, the popular tram driver in Frankfurt alias #BahnBabo, as ambassadors. Both campaigns were picked up by TV stations and contributed to the successful reach of World Day 2025. The coverage of World Hearing Day 2025 achieved a remarkable overall media response in Germany. A total of over 12.4 million television viewers were reached during eight broadcasts – an exceptionally strong result, which was particularly characterised by in-depth reports such as in the Frankenschau (BR, 16:07 min., Erlangen study), on ORF , Maintower and SWR aktuell (from minute 23:33). On the radio, the campaign achieved a reach of almost 13.2 million listeners with 71 broadcasts. This can also be attributed to the commitment of the dedicated ambassadors. Online and print media together reached 75.8 million readers. In social media, 653 mentions were achieved with a reach of around 1.6 million.

Impactful Story:

At the event with the Mainz State Orchestra, hearing tests were carried out with musicians and information was provided on the subject of hearing health and noise prevention. Among the tested people there were some with a hearing impairment that needed to be treated. The people were informed about this. A tv station (SWR) was present and broadcasted a feature on the occasion of world hearing day.
