Title: Empowering and changing mindsets through sustainable advocacy on ear and hearing care
Alternate tite:

Empowering and changing mindsets through sustainable advocacy on ear and hearing care

Description:

My team and I had sections at two popular FM radio stations where we made awareness on WHD and advised the people on the burden of ear problems risky hearing behaviors and preventive measures in ear care. We gave public lectures with facts and figures on the low level of awareness on the use of loud listening devices, present and future adverse effects on students and members of staff and various preventive modalities were offered. Free ENT consultations and hearing screening also took place in our health center by my team which comprised of Doctors, Nurses and Audiologists. Part of the free treatment modalities that took place were aural syringing, wick dressing, foreign body removal, assessment and counseling on the audiometric findings among other free health programs that took place in cerebrating WHD 2025.

Primary site: AFR – Nigeria

Impactful Story:

From the rural health workers at the event “we now understood that we have not followed the proper methods for the treatment of ear problems. We irrigate the ears with water at every complaint of ear problems. We have learnt proper ear care methods and we will make appropriate corrections and also tell others about it. We will ensure to refer ENT problems according to the protocol that we have been given.”
