1. Community Awareness by ANMs
Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) were sensitized at Delhi Government Dispensaries/Polyclinics to carry out community-level educational sessions. Supported by faculty from MAMC, ANMs facilitated awareness drives focusing on ear hygiene, early symptoms of hearing impairment, and access to ENT care. These efforts targeted underserved populations where hearing loss is often undiagnosed.
2. CANARA Bank Screening Initiative
A hearing screening camp was conducted for staff at the CANARA Bank branch of MAMC. Fifteen individuals were screened; three had cerumen impaction, two required further ENT evaluation, and one was advised to undergo a hearing aid trial. This initiative emphasized occupational hearing health and the importance of regular screenings in corporate environments.
3. CRPF Camp, Jharoda Kalan
An awareness event was held at the CRPF camp in Jharoda Kalan, New Delhi. The programme, attended by senior CRPF leadership, featured expert talks from MAMC and Sound Hearing 2030 representatives. Topics included early signs of hearing loss, preventive ear care, and the use of digital tools such as the hearWHO mobile application. Interactive sessions, educational videos, and a quiz enhanced community participation.
4. ENT OPD Engagement – Lok Nayak Hospital (LNH)
At the LNH ENT OPD, a skit performed by postgraduate students depicted common ear disorders and care practices. They all were well defined with the topic of ear problems and how to do care of the ear and hearing through experts, IEC material displays, and distribution of awareness leaflets. The event effectively reached a diverse outpatient audience.
5. Screening Camp at National Physical Laboratory
Held on 23rd April 2025, the screening at NPL evaluated 56 staff members. Findings included cerumen impaction, retracted tympanic membranes, and cases of mild to severe hearing loss. A pediatric participant was diagnosed with adenoid hypertrophy and referred accordingly.
Organized on 6th May 2025, the WHO-SEARO screening camp assessed 108 individuals. While 57.4% had normal findings, 21 presented with hearing loss and another 21 with wax impaction. Detailed evaluations including Pure Tone Audiometry and Tympanometry were conducted. Referrals and individualized counseling were provided where necessary.

GIMS hosted a seminar featuring lectures by renowned specialists on topics such as noise-induced hearing loss, cochlear implantation, pediatric rehabilitation, PRP in tympanoplasty, and the implementation of NPPCD. The event also included a quiz for postgraduate students and highlighted innovations in surgical and rehabilitative care.

Impactful Story:
Santram, a 46 Yrs old had been struggling with hearing loss for several years. The condition had gradually reduced his quality of life—affecting communication at home, misunderstandings in his neighborhood, hampering performance and distancing from social interactions. Despite the growing challenges, he remained unaware of his condition.
His turning point came during the TAP assessment at Delhi Government Dispensary , where he underwent ENT consultant and hearing screening. The diagnosis confirmed hearing loss and subsequently counseled and fitted with a hearing aid.
The impact was immediate and transformative. With restored hearing, Santram reconnected with family, social settings, and profession life.
