Title: Promoting Healthy Hearing Habits in the School Community Juan Pablo II
Alternate tite:
Promoting healthy hearing habits in the school community
Description:
The activity will begin with an informative talk on hearing loss, led by a speech-language pathologist and supported by an inclusion facilitator—a deaf individual who will share their personal story. This includes how hearing loss has shaped their daily life, the barriers they have faced, and the communication strategies they have developed over time.
Following the presentation, students will receive a variety of topics related to hearing health. Their task will be to create educational posters that reflect the information discussed, promoting awareness through creativity. Two facilitators, including the inclusion facilitator, will visit each group to guide the process, answer questions, and provide additional insights to deepen students’ understanding.
The most outstanding posters will be selected to create a large banner, which will be displayed throughout the school during the month of March.
This initiative seeks to raise awareness about hearing health, encourage safe listening habits, and foster empathy and inclusion within the school community.
Primary site: AMR – Chile
Impactful Story:
At Colegio Juan Pablo II, students worked together in teams to create posters about safe listening habits. They researched information, shared ideas, and designed colorful and informative materials.
Once completed, the posters were reviewed, and the best ones were selected to be displayed around the school to raise awareness. Additionally, flyers with important messages were created and distributed among students and staff.
Through teamwork and creativity, the students helped promote safe listening practices and spread important information throughout the school community.
