**World Hearing Day – Spain’s Perspective**
On March 3rd, 2025, the *Asociación Nacional de Fabricantes e Importadores de Audífonos* (ANFIA, *National Association of Hearing Aid Manufacturers and Importers*) highlighted the pressing issue of untreated hearing loss in Spain. Despite a significant portion of the population experiencing hearing difficulties, only about 39% utilize hearing aids, indicating a substantial gap in auditory healthcare access.
Recent studies underscore the broader health implications of untreated hearing loss, linking it to increased risks of cognitive decline, social isolation, and even mortality. Conversely, consistent use of hearing aids has been associated with a 25% reduction in the risk of death, emphasizing the importance of early intervention and regular usage.
In response to these findings, ANFIA has initiated a strategic collaboration with the consultancy Political Intelligence to advocate for the integration of auditory health into public health policies. This partnership aims to address existing barriers—such as cost and societal stigma—and to promote awareness about the benefits of hearing aid usage.
To mark this special occasion, ANFIA also partnered with *Malagón*, a prominent Spanish cartoonist known for his sharp wit and social commentary, to create an exclusive illustration for World Hearing Day. Malagón’s work has been featured in leading national media outlets such as *El País*, *El Jueves*, and *La Marea*, and he is widely recognized for using humor and satire to raise awareness on social and political issues. The cartoon aimed to creatively highlight the importance of hearing health and to reach a broader audience through accessible, engaging communication.
Through these efforts, ANFIA aspires to enhance the quality of life for individuals with hearing impairments and to foster a more inclusive approach to auditory health in Spain.

On the occasion of World Hearing Day 2025, the *Asociación Nacional de Fabricantes e Importadores de Audífonos* (ANFIA, *National Association of Hearing Aid Manufacturers and Importers*) launched a coordinated communication campaign across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
