Title: carnival block: “escute esse som: cuidados auditivos para todos, na folia e na vida!”
Alternate tite:
Carnival block: “Listen to this sound: hearing care for everyone, in revelry and in life!”
Description:
the speech therapy course at the university of sorocaba created a carnival block called “listen to this sound: hearing care for everyone, in the festivities and in life!”. with around 90 participants, including students, teachers, family members and students from other courses, the block carried the message proposed by the world hearing day 2025 campaign. The carnival march, composed by the students themselves, was inspired by the day’s theme (access: https://drive.google.com/file/d/18_YKGUH4eX67P3HdiGqy_xldmR0EnpWR/view?usp=sharing). the abadá was developed by the design and fashion course, while the drums were played by the university’s athletic team. the lyrics were sung by a speech therapist and professional singer, and the posters in portuguese reinforced the campaign. all members of the group received ear protectors, promoting hearing protection, and almost 2,000 protectors were distributed to the public, accompanied by information in QR codes, reinforcing the importance of taking care of hearing during the festivities and in life.

Impactful Story:
I could cite several reports from students and participants who noticed the benefits of using ear protectors in noisy environments to prevent hearing loss.
A young person reported: “I didn’t know it was so good and at the same time so important to use ear protectors when the noise is very loud. I enjoyed the experience and I’m going to keep up this habit to take care of my hearing health.”
