Description:
International Noise Awareness Day: #Just1Minute of Silence
The Oír es Vivir Foundation proudly announces its 14th consecutive #Just1Minute of Silence campaign, emphasizing that noise harms more than just your ears—it impacts your physical and mental health. This initiative aims to educate and raise awareness about hearing loss risks and the importance of ear care.
According to WHO figures, 1 in 4 people could suffer hearing impairments by 2050. To combat this, we invite everyone to join us in a simple yet powerful action: observe #Just1Minute of Silence on April 30th at 2:15 p.m. Be part of the solution by documenting your participation with a “shhhh” selfie, sharing it on social media, tagging @oiresvivir, and using the hashtag #Just1Minute.
Giovanna Troncoso, President of Oír es Vivir, highlights the campaign’s 14-year legacy of promoting hearing health in Panama and Latin America, aiming for lifelong good hearing for all.

Impactful Story:
For Fundación Oír Es Vivir, it’s a source of immense pride to have led the “Just One Minute of Silence” campaign for 14 straight years. This initiative has significantly raised awareness about noise’s harmful impact on hearing and overall well-being.
This year, a key highlight was our collaboration with a youth-led community civic action laboratory. These young students designed and implemented a pilot program in a school, tackling acoustic pollution with ninth-graders. For a month, they used interactive workshops and educational talks to raise awareness. Fundación Oír Es Vivir proudly supported this invaluable, enriching opportunity for the school community.
