Title: Art Connect: Awareness to Action to Address Childhood Hearing Loss in Rural Communities

Description:

This event was organized by the SRESHT lab (see https://sresht.godaddysites.com/) to engage with the community on childhood hearing loss and actions at the rural community towards early identification and intervention. The dissemination was conducted using local folk art forms such as Pari aatam, Karakattam and oyilattam in six public spaces of prominence in three districts in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders including the general public, village heads, special educators working in the public sector and NGO staff who worked towards women and child health in these communities.
Importance of early identification and intervention, effective strategies to address the childhood hearing loss in rural communities, service delivery points available in the community through both public sector and SRESHT lab, government schemes for hearing loss were shared. An information handout was also given to the public with the key messages.
