Early detection, better learning: A World Hearing Day 2026 Hearing Health Initiative in Battor
Description:
The event in Battor will be a school-based hearing health outreach organized to commemorate World Hearing Day 2026. It will be conducted in two selected basic schools within the Battor community and led by a multidisciplinary health team from the Catholic Hospital, Battor.
The activity will begin with interactive health education sessions for pupils and teachers, focusing on ear hygiene, prevention of hearing loss, early signs of hearing difficulties, and the importance of seeking timely care. Simple demonstrations and question-and-answer sessions will be used to enhance understanding and participation.
This will be followed by basic hearing screening for pupils to enable early identification of possible hearing problems. Children who do not pass the screening will be documented and referred to the hospital for further audiological assessment and appropriate management. Teachers will also be engaged and oriented on how to observe and report hearing-related challenges among pupils after the outreach.
Overall, the event aims to promote awareness, support early detection, and strengthen links between schools and health services, contributing to improved hearing care for children in Battor in line with World Hearing Day 2026 objectives.
