World Hearing Day 2026: Act today – protect children’s hearing
Description:
On March 3, 2026, with the support of specialists from the Association of Phoniatricians and Audiologists of Ukraine, a scientific and practical educational event was organized for third- and fifth-grade students. A one-day outreach activity was held at a public school with the aim of increasing awareness among students and teachers about hearing health and ways to protect and preserve it. During the meeting, a presentation was delivered on the anatomy and physiology of the organs of hearing and balance, the causes and warning signs of possible hearing loss, as well as information on ear hygiene and the prevention of hearing loss.
Informational and educational materials developed by the World Health Organization on hearing care were also used during the event as part of initiatives dedicated to World Hearing Day. This enabled students to become familiar with international recommendations on the prevention of hearing loss and the importance of early care for ear and hearing health.
The meeting took place in a warm and interactive atmosphere. Students actively participated in the discussion, listened with great interest, and shared their own observations. They also had the opportunity to explore the structure of the ear using an anatomical model, learn why loud sounds can be harmful, and receive practical advice on how to maintain good hearing health for many years.
In addition, otoscopy examinations were offered to all interested participants, and individual recommendations on ear care and hearing protection were provided.
