Description:
WORLD HEARING DAY 2026 REPORT FROM SPECIAL CARE SUPPORT CARE SUPPORT NETWORK UGANDA :
Special care support network Uganda joined the world at large to commemorate the world hearing day that took place on 3rd march 2026, Our activities started on 2rd march 2026 when we visited Bulondo Health Centre lll which is located in Mende remote areas of Wakiso district to raise more awareness as far as hearing and ear care is concerned, as per the world hearing day 2026 theme ‘’From communities to classroom’’. In the health Centre we engaged mothers, care takes, health workers and some teenagers and all the well-wishers in the sensitization activity. since it was immunisation day , we were lucky to find there many mothers and expectant mothers as well and most of the parents were not aware of how to take good care of their children’s ears and who to reach out to in case of any health issue concerning their children’s ears. Therefore all this information was shared to parents, the audience was also informed on house to use or do away with earphones and also avoid amplifying volume when putting them on, this message reached the teenagers who were around on that day, they were also advised to avoid using sharp objects in their ears.
World hearing day message was disseminated to both the parents and health service providers; we informed them on how to take care or support children and patients with hearing loss. We encouraged them to face them when communicating to them, communicate to them in the room which has enough light, use sign language if need arises. Therefore special care support network Uganda saw the need to communicate to both the parents and health workers because awareness starts from the communities then it reaches the classroom as per the world hearing day theme once again ‘’ From communities to classroom’’. ,it’s the role of the parents to do the needful to see that their children when sent to school feel safe and included in classroom activities irrespective of their hearing loss challenges, they are not left behind, parents where also advised to inform the hearing challenges of their children to their teachers in that the children are also supported by both the teachers and their friends at school in the absence of the parents this is so because parents were now equipped with knowledge and the understanding of the hearing messages .
On 3rd march 2026 Special care support network Uganda. We celebrated the world hearing day with students and teachers at Trinity secondary school -Bakka in Wakiso district .It was an interesting and interactive session with students , students were informed on how to take good care of their ears and how to help their friends with hearing loss , it was a question and answering session many questions were raised by students and special support network Uganda team we were able to answer all the questions , teaches as well where lectured on how to handle or teach children with hearing loss since a few student where having the hearing challenges thus World Health Organization and World Hearing Day 2026 message was well articulated and shared to the right audience , students were also given some gifts to engyise them and keep them active during the session . teachers thanked the team very much for the great message of shared to their teenage students who didn’t know that their ears are more important and therefore its their role to keep them health .
Credit goes to World health organisation for comming up with that theme.

Impactful Story:
A parent of a child with hearing loss was concerned whether her child’s ear will get well if treated , she blamed herself for not taking her child for early identification of the earing problem now the situation of the ears of her child wasn’t in good conditions we encouraged her to always take her child to health workers thats the ENT department since they are more professional on what to do and how to treat the ears, she was of a view that due to the message we have given to her she knows now what to do .
