Description:

World Hearing Day Report: “From Communities to Classrooms”

Under the motto “From Communities to Classrooms,” Fundación Oír es Vivir has successfully carried out an intensive campaign focused on awareness, diagnosis, and education. Our mission remains clear: to ensure that no one is left behind due to untreated hearing loss.

February 26: Empowering the Future at Centro Supérate

We kicked off our preliminary activities by serving the youth. We conducted a hearing health screening for 80 young people (ages 12 to 17) at the Centro Supérate in San Miguelito.

Objective: To ensure that these underprivileged students have optimal hearing to strengthen their school performance and reach their full academic potential.

March 3: Grand Celebration of World Hearing Day

1. Health Within Everyone’s Reach (San Miguelito Metro Station)
Starting early, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., we were stationed at one of the busiest transit points in the country. We performed rapid hearing evaluations and provided preventive information to Metro users during their daily commute.

2. “Reading with a Purpose” at La Medalla Milagrosa
In partnership with the Kiwanis Club Las Gardenias, we visited the La Medalla Milagrosa Education Center. We brought awareness directly into the classrooms by sharing the children’s story “Mr. Brillo Likes Yellow,” written by Tanya Saunders from Avid Language Publishing House. Additionally, we conducted 47 hearing evaluations for children between the ages of 3 and 7.

3. Monumental Illumination: Panama Dressed in Blue and Orange
At nightfall, three emblematic institutions illuminated their buildings with the Foundation’s colors as a symbol of support for hearing health. These landmark buildings were:

Panama Canal Administration Building (ACP)

Electoral Tribunal

National Bank of Panama

Following the success achieved in 2025, these institutions repeated this feat this year, reaffirming their commitment to our national awareness campaign.

We are deeply moved by these achievements and excited about the impact we will continue to create together next year.

Impactful Story:

360° Commitment: Hearing health for academic success
On World Hearing Day, Fundación Oír es Vivir provided care for 47 children at the Medalla Milagrosa Center. We identified 5 cases requiring follow-up; today, we are welcoming them to our clinic for specialized diagnosis. Our goal is to accompany these families, resolve clinical concerns, and prevent school dropout, ensuring that every student reaches their full potential. Seeing the community seek answers at our stands confirms that education is the engine of change. At FOV, we work so that hearing becomes the bridge to a bright future.
