Al title (for format and translation – not permanent:

Promotion of hearing care in the school community of Juan Pablo II School

Description:

In the framework of the World Hearing Day, promoted by the World Health Organization, a hearing health awareness workshop was held for students, focusing on ear care, prevention of hearing loss, and early detection. Students created informational materials for their community promoting safe listening. Selected works were used to produce flyers and a banner for community outreach. A public event later offered educational information, ear canal checks, and hearing screening to encourage early detection and hearing health self-care.

Impactful Story:

As part of World Hearing Day activities, a local health center referred a student from a participating school who had been identified with unilateral hearing loss. The student and family received counseling on hearing health and the importance of early management. The adolescent is currently undergoing medical evaluation, and a possible hearing aid fitting is being considered. This case highlights how school-based awareness activities can support early identification, referral, and access to appropriate hearing care.
