Centro Audiológico Auris celebrates WHD in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Description:

From the heart of Central America, in Tegucigalpa, dedicated audiologists continue working year after year to strengthen hearing care services across the country. Centro Audiológico Auris organized a series of activities in commemoration of World Hearing Day 2026, engaging key stakeholders to maximize the impact of the campaign and expand awareness nationwide.

Throughout March, the organization carried out free audiological screening campaigns, providing education on hearing health and the importance of early detection. These initiatives not only increased public awareness, but also identified numerous patients with hearing loss who required further evaluation and hearing aid solutions. By connecting patients with accessible hearing care services, the team helped improve opportunities for communication, social participation, and quality of life for many individuals and families in Honduras.

Through collaboration, outreach, and patient-centered care, Centro Audiologico Auris reaffirmed its commitment to promoting hearing health and making hearing care more accessible for communities across the country.

Impactful Story:

When Alexander Jafet Cerrato was just 2 years old, an infection slowly took away his hearing. Despite the challenges, his mother, Marleny Maradiada, a dedicated police officer in Honduras, never stopped fighting for her son’s future. Their search for hope led them to Centro Audiologico Auris, where Alexander began his hearing journey with hearing aids. Years later, through faith, perseverance, and love, he received cochlear implant surgery. Today, at 8 years old, Alexander is a happy child enjoying school, friendships, and everyday life — a beautiful reminder that love and hope can truly change lives
