Description:

Edamalakudy is a remote tribal village and GramaPanchayat in Anamalai Hills in the idukki district of the Indian state of Kerala. Travancore Hearing Solutions is conducting a Hearing Awareness and Screening Camp.

Primary site: SEAR- India
Region: SEAR

Impactful Story:

Travancore Hearing Solutions conducted a free hearing test camp and awareness program in Edamalakkudi, Kerala’s first tribal panchayat. Located in a remote forest region, the village has limited access to healthcare services. Our team carried portable diagnostic equipment to perform on-site screenings, reaching individuals across all age groups, many for the first time. Several cases of untreated hearing loss were identified. An awareness session educated the community on early detection, prevention, and rehabilitation. This initiative improved awareness, reduced stigma, and reinforced the importance of accessible hearing healthcare in underserved populations.
