March 3 marks the 27th National Ear Care Day. Recently, the Tianjin Fifth Central Hospital was filled with warmth. The Disabled Persons’Federation of Binhai New Area, together with the Tianjin Welfare Foundation for Persons with Disabilities, the Tianjin Fifth Central Hospital and the Tianjin Third Central Hospital, jointly launched the public welfare clinic activity of “Disability Prevention & Health Care · Tianjin Public Welfare Tour – ‘Love ‘Lets You Hear”to safeguard citizens’ hearing health and convey care through public welfare efforts.
The event offered a variety of public services. Expert teams from the two hospitals provided the public with consultation, diagnosis and personalized treatment advice for ear diseases, patiently answered frequently asked questions such as tinnitus and hearing loss, and offered free otoscopy and hearing tests. In addition, DR. Yang Dong, from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the Third Central Hospital, delivered a special lecture, elaborating on the prevention of ear diseases, scientific ear care habits, as well as the fitting and maintenance of hearing aids, to popularize ear care knowledge among citizens.
Citizens who participated in the activity spoke highly of it. “The doctors patiently addressed my tinnitus problems and taught me daily ear care tips, which are really useful”, Aunt Wang told reporters. Uncle Guo also expressed his appreciation: “I’m getting old and often feel ear fullness and hearing loss, but I haven’t had a check-up. Today I got a free hearing test on site. The doctors analyzed my results carefully and told me about the public welfare subsidy program for hearing aids. It’s wonderful!”
It is reported that this public welfare project focuses on the practical needs of people with hearing impairments and provides comprehensive services as well as subsidies for hearing aid fitting under professional medical support. By integrating medical services with public welfare assistance, this activity not only offered convenient hearing health services for citizens, but also demonstrated the care from all sectors of society for people with disabilities.
