Hearing love, protecting love — start with ear care
Description:
On March 3, 2026, the 27th National Ear Care Day, themed “Scientific Ear Care for Hearing Health for All,” was observed. To support the Healthy China initiative and raise public awareness of hearing health, the China Association of the Deaf, together with Zhengzhou Kangyuan Hearing and Speech Rehabilitation Center and Boshi Hearing, organized a public welfare event at the Zhengzhou Disabled Persons’ Rehabilitation and Employment Service Center. The event served residents of Zhongyan Community and Staffs of the Disability Rehabilitation and Employment Services Center of Zhengzhou through educational talks, one-on-one consultations, and free hearing tests. It was well received and highlighted the Association’s commitment to hearing health.
The event began with a speech by volunteers from Kangyuan Center titled “Scientific Ear Care – Stories and Tips for Hearing Health.” The session covered the importance of hearing, common causes of hearing loss, daily prevention, and the value of early intervention. Special focus was given to older adults and people with disabilities, with practical advice on age-related hearing loss and noise protection. The goal was to promote the idea of early prevention, detection, diagnosis, and rehabilitation.
During the talk, volunteers led participants through ear exercises, helping them relax and ease fatigue in a fun and interactive way. The session used real-life stories and simple language, making it easy to follow. Participants listened carefully, joined in the exercises, and asked questions—many walked away with useful tips for ear care.
After the talk, hearing care professionals from Boshi Hearing provided free hearing screenings. Using professional equipment, they performed ear canal checks and hearing tests with care and patience. A total of 30 residents and staff members received screenings and gained a clearer picture of their hearing health.
The event met its goals by responding to the community’s needs and promoting hearing health. Participants deepened their understanding of hearing care and learned how to monitor their own hearing.
The experience reminded us that there is still much to do in spreading hearing health knowledge, and that demand for such services is strong. Moving forward, we plan to offer more health talks, free screenings, and rehabilitation guidance on a regular basis, reaching more people and contributing to the prevention of hearing loss and the development of rehabilitation services.
