From communities to classrooms: hearing care for all children
Description:
To commemorate World Hearing Day 2026, themed “From Communities to Classrooms: Hearing Care for All Children”, our team carried out activities aimed at promoting hearing health and ensuring that no child is left behind due to ear or hearing problems. We met with a government official Babajide Obanikoro Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State to discuss the importance of strengthening hearing care services for children in the community. We partnered with Living Vines Mental Foundation for an outreach program was also conducted at a government low-income secondary school where students and staff received a health talk on hearing care and prevention of hearing loss and the impact on their mental health. Free hearing examinations were provided, and ear wax removal services were carried out for those who required them. This initiative helped raise awareness about hearing health and emphasized the need to act now so that every child has the opportunity to learn and thrive without the barrier of untreated ear or hearing problems.
