Al title (for format and translation – not permanent:

Opening doors to the deaf world at CDS Tamtam: introducing hearing children to the world of the deaf

Description:

We organized an Open Day at Tamtam, welcoming not only the general public and our donors, but also children from a nearby kindergarten. The event was designed both as an opportunity to present our work and as an educational experience focused on awareness of hearing impairment.

The children participated in interactive activity stations centered on hearing loss and communication. They learned to sign the first letter of their name using the finger alphabet and watched the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel performed in Czech Sign Language. During a follow-up workshop, they also learned several basic signs.

Visitors were also introduced to our Snoezelen therapy room and our library, where they could learn more about our resources and approaches to supporting people with hearing impairment. We provided also expert informational brochures and offered hearing screening to visitors.
