Student Hearing Screening Activity was successfully held from April 9 to 10, 2026, centered at SMP 27 Balikpapan. This vital health program was led by dr. Erica Lukman, Sp.THT-BKL, through a strategic partnership between PGPKT Kaltim, the Balikpapan City Education Office, and the Balikpapan Health Office.
The event commenced with a formal opening ceremony attended by representatives of the Mayor of Balikpapan, local government officials, educators, and student delegates. The primary objective of this activity was to conduct auditory assessments for junior high school students using the innovative Screen-Out/Screen H application, ensuring a digital and efficient approach to early hearing detection.
Throughout the two-day period, a dedicated medical team consisting of 10 ENT Specialists and the PGPKT Kaltim team conducted thorough examinations. The program successfully surpassed its initial target, providing screenings for 220 students in total, comprising 138 students from SMP 27 Balikpapan and 82 students from SMP 2 Balikpapan. This collaborative effort underscores a significant commitment to maintaining the ear health and future academic success of students in the region.
