Promoting scientific ear care for all, jointly safeguarding hearing health
Description:
March 3, 2026, marked the 27th National Ear Care Day. The theme for this year is “Promoting Scientific Ear Care for All, Jointly Safeguarding Hearing Health.” The Otology Department of the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Center at Xiangya Hospital of Central South University organized a series of public welfare activities, calling on the public to protect their ears and safeguard their hearing health.
That morning, led by the department director, professors, and the head nurse, medical staff from the department actively provided hearing health education, free hearing tests, and free clinic services to over 30 elderly individuals in Kaifu District, Changsha City. Concurrently, the department’s physician team also utilized television and online new media platforms to educate the public on topics such as cochlear implants, auricular deformities, and age-related hearing loss. They also actively supported the popular science and free clinic activities organized by the provincial Disabled Persons’ Federation for Ear Care Day.
Over the years, the otology team from this hospital has extended its services across the province, providing professional “full-life-cycle” hearing care to more than 2,000 residents of all age groups, benefiting infants, students, and the middle-aged and elderly populations.
