Outline of the event:
A hearing screening procedure targeting employees aged over 50 years has been planned at the Venice Santi Giovanni e Paolo Hospital. The activities will take place on March 2-3, 2023, and include a self-administered survey and audiometric testing, which will be performed by the staff of the Unit of Clinical Audiology and Neurotology, assisted by students of the B.Sc. in Audiometry at the University of Padua.
Pass-Fail criteria are defined as follows:
– REFER when Pure Tone Average (PTA, averaged thresholds at 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000 Hz) is above 35 dB HL;
– PASS when PTA is equal or below 35 dB HL;
– RED FLAG in case of risk factors or conditions that need further clinical assessment.
Participants passing the screening will be provided with information about hearing care and future monitoring, whereas those resulting REFER or RED FLAG will be referred for audiological assessment.
