Outline of the event:
The ENT 2 unit with special interest in paediatric ENT conducted an awareness campaign on hearing care with the posters and flyers in different languages, downloaded from the WHO site focusing on the nearly three hundred patients and by standers gathered in the ENT outpatients department from various states of India at Christian Medical College, Vellore, India. Later in the evening symposium was done on hearing, hearing loss and rehabilitation for children and parents at various stages of evaluation and management for hearing loss. There was testimonies of children and parents regarding the benefits hearing rehabilitation and the challenges faced by them. An eleven year old girl who was implanted at two years for bilateral profound hearing loss and integrated well into the society spoke clearly on how it helped her. The meeting was well appreciated and ended with all children receiving stickers and high tea for all the participants.
