Organization: The University of Queensland

Project title: Increasing awareness about importance of hearing care for public and health professionals/policy makers and addressing hearing loss stigma

Regions: [86] [10] [14] [17] [20] [23] [102]

Outline of the event:

We aim to change in perceptions of hearing health through a multimedia campaign with 3 activities on 3rd March 2024. First, using the media expertise of The University of Queensland (UQ), we produced a professional YouTube video addressing the stigma of hearing loss/hearing aids. The video offers actionable insights to address stigma and will be widely shared on social media.
Second, a targeted 5-minute Q&A video will be created for the social media channels of the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences (UQ). This video will engage healthcare students/alumni emphasising the global impact on health policies. Both videos will be released on 3rd of March.
Finally, to address specific concerns in the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) community in Australia, 250 simple flyers will be distributed in CALD areas in Brisbane. They provide information on hearing loss, the importance of seeking help, and a link to the stigma-focused YouTube video.
