Outline of the event:
Based on separate resource manuals developed for ear and hearing care by Nepal governement, we will orient female community health volunteers and train local health workers in a two-day program with support from the municipality and a tertiary ear care center. We will orient female community health volunteers (FCHVs) on signs and symptoms of common ear diseases and hearing loss as well as prevention and promotion. The local health workers will be trained in preventive, promotive, and treatment of common ear diseases as well as screening people in the community for hearing loss using the free version of the hearWHO app. The FCHVs will be trained to refer suspected ear diseases and hearing loss cases to local health facilities. The trained local health workers will treat common ear diseases and screen for hearing loss among referred cases. Cases needing further care will be referred to a tertiary care center.
