Outline of the event:
Our effort is to streamline the pilot Infant Hearing Screening (IHS) as an essential child health program in Nepal. Our community ear health workers conduct IHS before a child receives their vaccination, and vaccinators provide counseling to parents and caretakers about hearing screening. On WHD 2024, we’ll host an event showcasing success stories of children who underwent hearing screenings during immunization, received hearing aids, and share their journeys. Parents, children, and vaccinators will highlight the challenges and triumphs. Stakeholders, advocates, and policymakers will be invited to witness our integrated approach. Educational campaigns will run in immunization centers, screening centers, and pediatric hospitals throughout the week, using Information, Education, and Communication materials to educate parents about the importance of IHS. We’ll also utilize social media platforms like Reels, Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok, and YouTube to spread informative content about IHS to a broader audience.
