Outline of the event:

The West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens will participate in a stakeholders seminar organized by the University Ghana Medical Centre, University of Ghana, Legon on the 3rd March 2024 as part of this years wolrd hearing day celebration. The centre will give a presentation on findings from systematic genetic investigations on deaf families across Ghana. The team (WACCBIP) will further engage and initiate the needed discussion with stakeholders (researchers, heads of school for the Deaf, representatives of Deaf association, media, government agencies, audiologist, counsellors, and families) on Genetic Testing Policy and Consideration in Newborn Hearing Screening! Also our previously developed resource pack, with inforgraphic on hearing impairment types and symptoms will be distributed to partcipants to help the sensitization ad contribute to theme – changing mindset; let’s make ear and hearing care a reality for all.
