Organization: Australasian Newborn Hearing Screening Committee
Project title: 2023 Australasian Newborn Hearing Screening Conference: “20 years of newborn hearing screening: Looking back and building the future”
Regions: Australia, New Zealand
Outline of the event:
The 11th Australasian Newborn Hearing Screening Conference has been planned to coincide with World Hearing Day to mark the 20th anniversary of the first population-based new-born hearing screening program in Australia reaching full population coverage in 2003. For more than 20 years, the ANHS conference served to showcase best practice in hearing screening and related services. The Conference has played an important role in the development and improvement of such programs across Australia and New Zealand. The inaugural Conference gave rise to the National Consensus Statement on Newborn Hearing Screening which was a significant part of the lobbying effort to introduce programs of UNHS in Australia. The conference continues to play a role in ensuring that standards of coverage and standards of quality in the delivery of screening and associated services around Australasia are maintained and continuously improved.
