Organization: Teens Development Initiative
Project title: Hear and thrive
Primary region: AFR
Country: Nigeria
Event Description:
This project targets adolescents in secondary schools to transform their perceptions of hearing health. Recognizing that habits and attitudes formed during adolescence shape lifelong behavior, the initiative promotes proactive hearing care through education, early detection, and peer-led advocacy. Activities include hearing screenings using HearWHO App, interactive workshops on safe listening habits, and addressing misconceptions about hearing loss. Trained adolescent ambassadors will lead awareness campaigns, using relatable storytelling and peer influence to normalize hearing health. Digital platforms and social media will amplify the message, reaching wider youth audiences.
Impact:
By fostering mindset shifts among adolescents, this project builds a generation that values hearing care. Over two thousands of students will benefit from early detection, reducing the longterm effects of untreated hearing issues. Schools will become hubs for hearing health advocacy, influencing families and communities. “Hear and Thrive” empowers youth to champion hearing care, ensuring sustainable and widespread impact.
