Alternate tite:
World Hearing Day awareness program and health rally: Listen today for a better tomorrow
Description:
One week prior to March 3rd, a comprehensive Hearing Awareness Program was conducted across multiple educational institutions in Pondicherry. These sessions were designed to educate students, faculty, and the general public about the importance of hearing health, the risks of ear phone usage, and preventive measures to maintain long-term auditory wellness. In some institutions, a free hearing screening camp was organized, and provided counselling on the importance of timely diagnosis and management of hearing-related issues.
On March 3rd, an awareness talk was held for the general public followed by a Hearing health rally, involving staff, students, and postgraduates, who came together to spread the message of hearing health. It was a powerful outreach activity, gaining enough public attention. Through these collective efforts, a significant number of individuals were reached, ensuring that the message of hearing awareness continues to resonate and inspire action for better ear and hearing care in the future, during the course of these events, WHO material such as banners and pamphlets were extensively used.

Impactful Story:
During the World Hearing Day screening at an educational institution, one of the students had mentioned that she was struggling with reduced hearing due to blocked ears, affecting their concentration in class. ENT examination confirmed the presence of impacted wax and it was successfully removed, following which the student experienced immediate relief, and her face lit up with joy as she expressed her gratitude. This simple intervention not only improved their hearing but also enhanced their overall learning experience, highlighting the importance of regular hearing check-ups.
