University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) celebrated World Hearing Day by holding two weeks of events ranging from outreaches to nursery, primary and secondary schools in Calabar Municipality, Advocacy visits to policy makers, road walk to University of Calabar campus, radio and TV awareness programme and lecture on 3rd of March 2025, in the conference hall of UCTH.
Additionally, ear screening and treatment for minor ENT diseases were offered to the participants at the premises of the schools, while others were referred to otorhinolaryngology department of UCTH for further treatment.
We recommended Neonatal screening for all Newborns in all the local government areas in Cross River State. Furthermore, we informed the policy makers the importance of preschool ear screening for all children in Cross River State, and to pass it into law of the state.
